I come from a family of dog lovers and have always grown up with several dogs in the house, as well as a variety of other pets.
From a very young age I always had an affinity with dogs. My first dog was called Jack, originality was not our strong point :D. Jack turned up on our doorstep one early morning. I begged and begged my parents to let me keep him. After trying everything an 8 year old can think of I promised to give up sucking my thumb in return for him, to save him from the pound and certain death and from that day on we were inseparable, me for him and him from me. We went everywhere together. He slept with me (under the duvet snuggle up by my side with his head on my waist). We had many amazing adventures together and Jack even got to meet both my children before he took a trip over the rainbow bridge. Jack had the most amazing personality. My father always said "If Jack was as big as his personality we'd all be looking up his nose" and he certainly had a thing for the ladies.
As my life moved on dogs became more and more a part of my life until I cared for 7 dogs. Five of which were rescue dogs and 4 of them had severe behavioural issues. By this time I was running a flyball team, running dog training classes and doing freelance dog behavioural training for problematic dogs, to help prevent re-homing issues.
