I have a degree in animal behaviour, and eventually aim to put this to use by training dogs as my profession. I enjoy their company as well as working on training together. I am looking to walk a variety dogs to gain experience with many different characters. This can be at a regular time each week.
I have had dogs for over 10 years, and been the sole care giver of dogs for the last 5. I enjoy all different breeds, from the very small or calm, all the way to the larger-than-life breeds or intensely energetic. I have also worked with rescued street dogs, so I am comfortable with reading canine body language to ensure they are comfortable and happy.
I have experience with 'reactive dogs'. Reactive dogs are often scared or over excited by certain 'triggers', including unknown dogs, unknown people, children, and traffic. This can result in behaviour such as barking, trembling, whining, lunging, and growling. These fear or over-stimulation responses can be managed and improved with positive training - mostly 'counter conditioning'. I am happy to work with reactive dogs, especially those who may have been refused by other walkers.
I can provide walks from your home, with or without visits to grassy or wooded areas. I can jog or cycle with dogs that require more intense exercise. I can provide a 20ft or 60ft lead for dogs that need to run about and play but need some practice with recall. I am happy to provide walks anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours. I can also use our time slot to work on basic training with your dog (including recall!) with NO extra fee. I can supply treats and any additional doggy gear for walks and complementary training sessions.
