About Andy

We would be more than happy to host your dog whilst you are away on summer holiday, off for a long weekend break, having day out, or maybe having to work long and inconvenient hours.

•Your pet will have a holiday of their own

•No kennel cages, just lots of family fun

•You can enjoy your time away knowing your dog is in good hands

Waiting patiently for summer to finally arrive. Perhaps it's just not coming this year. But never mind the longer day lengths mean longer walks although this recent rain might mean a rub down with a dry the towel when we get home.

We can accommodate active dogs who like long walks or maybe you have a quieter dog who is less active but likes lots of attention. We will also happily host your puppy from 16 weeks of age. Your dog will sleep in the house and will be welcome to sit in with the family during the day. Drop off and pick up times are very flexible and we are more than happy to accommodate early drop off's and/or late pick ups.

We have a large house set in mature woodland which is an excellent situation for dogs. We've had dogs here at our house for nearly 30 years. When requested we foster dogs for national and local charities whilst they are awaiting permanent homes and when we are not doing this we host dogs (and cats) whilst there owners are on holiday. Of course your dog must be fully vaccinated before we can host and following the recent change in the law all dogs must now be chipped.

We do except bookings at short notice but earlier you book the more likely we are to be able to host your dog.

A portion of hosting income goes to help a national animal support charity.

I have never left Daisy with anybody other than a well-known family member before! I was so worried that she wouldn't settle. My daily photos showed that Daisy soon made herself at home and made dog buddies that she would not have made with me - I believe a lab named Harvey was her best bud! When I picked Daisy up, she trotted off down the path after Andy! - left me feet behind! Charming! Seriously, I cannot recommend Andy and his wife enough for taking the heartache out of a necessary trip. If you need a dog sitter, don't hesitate to book this one - I'm so glad I did! Thanks Andy!

Thanks Bridget. It's not always easy leaving your dog with a new host for the first time. We encourage owners to come and visit us before the first hosting so that they can see just how we make every dog as welcome as if it was our own. Daisy being an older dog was calm and loved the company of other dogs and we very much enjoyed her company as well.

This was the first time for our dogs staying with Andy at Happy Hounds. Both dogs are rescue dogs - one is an ex Romanian street dog who is very anxious and skittish, so we were very apprehensive about leaving them with anyone. We needn't have worried - Andy and his wife clearly love dogs and understand them and from the moment we first visited we felt very reassured. We received regular updates and photos and both dogs had a fab time. When we collected them they were both obviously very settled and had been very well cared for! It's such a relief to find people who love dogs and who we can trust. A big thank you from us both & from Bessie & Bluebell 😊👍🏻🐾

Every dog is different and every dog has their own personality. When a new dog comes to stay with us we have to learn from each dog their traits and their whims and then provide that dog with exercise and fun to suit their individual needs. Bluebell was an irrepressible ball of energy whilst Bessie was still a little nervous as we would expect from a recently rescued dog. However both settled well and interacted really nicely with the other dogs we were hosting. Two great dogs who are welcome back anytime.

This is the second time Harvey our chocolate Lab has stayed with Andy. Once again I can't thank him enough for taking such great care of him. He always comes back looking fitter due to all the lovely walks and playing with other dogs. I feel very confident leaving Harvey in such great company. Many thanks.

Harvey is a laid back dog, but a dog who knows how to have a fun time with other dogs when out on a walk. You are welcome back anytime Harvey.
