My two favourite things in life are walking and animals - so why not combine these two things and walk your dog?! I have recently moved to Shrewsbury from Manchester (and previously, the Peak District) to work with the Wildlife Trust and have found that I am not spending as much time as I would like outside during week days as the days get shorter. So I thought, what better way to get outside than to walk dogs.
I have always had an affinity with animals, however I did not have the chance to have many pets as a child (besides a stray cat which I convinced to be my friend, and lived in our garden for 5 years after that!). So, while technically I have never had a pet dog, I spent 3 years living at a hostel with all sorts of farm animals (see Pierre and Houdini, the pygmy goats in my photos and one of the lambs). The goats I always found were similar to dogs, and we were able to train them somewhat in exchange for treats. They were always up to mischief and I feel looking after these lovely animals gave me a sound knowledge of animal care.
I live within walking distance of the quarry and frequently run in this area so I know the streets well. If you would like your dogs to go on longer walks, I am a keen hiker and frequently take trips into the Shropshire hills if this is something you feel they would enjoy.
